A gorgeous traditional amber Venetian scavo glass ceiling lantern with a steel wire frame and black nickel chains, entirely hand-produced on the famous glass-making island of Murano in the Venetian lagoon.
The mould for this beautiful lantern is first fashioned from steel wire. The glass-master then blows the molten glass into the frame where it expands into the lovely curved shape you see here, before it is allowed to cool.
A special chemical is used to erode parts of the surface of the glass, to give it the lovely rustic finish you see here.
This lovely lantern is part of a small collection which includes a mix of co-ordinating table, wall ceiling and floor lighting. This piece may bear some tiny imperfection that will attest to its having been fashioned entirely by hand, thus increasing its value and uniqueness. It is based on a historical design and has been crafted using purely traditional techniques.Height: 49cm
