A spectacular classic oval Murano glass chandelier with 18 lights on two tiers, made using the traditional method of mouth blown glass, accurately replicating the original ancient Venetian arts. All small inner bubbles, marks, ripples and hollows have been purposely made to recreate the original glass flaws of the Venetian age, recalling the detail and uniqueness of the product and proving its entirely handmade artistic manufacturing.
This is a beautiful example of the traditional Rezzonico style. During the 18th century, ostentatious displays of wealth were everywhere, and the chandeliers in the palazzi were made ever larger, until they were breaking under their own weight. A solution was found in internal metal frames, sleeved with small pieces of interleaved glass. Thus the Rezzonico chandelier was born, named after the Ca'Rezzonico palace for whom the stlye developed and you can still see the original there today.
Its long oval 'barchetta' shape perfectly fits above an elegant dinner table. To enhance this entirely handmade design, there are many crystal colured Murano glass details with precious inner gold leafed decorations.
