Amber scavo glass standard lamp with gold leaf base
A lovely traditional amber-coloured Murano scavo glass floor-standing light on a gold leaf frame, hand-crafted on the famous Venetian island.
A special chemical has been used to erode parts of the surface of this lovely light, to give it the appearance of having been buried for a long time, or having been left exposed to the elements, The Italian word 'scavo' means ‘excavated’ in English, hence the name of this finish.
This is a popular choice for a traditional rustic decor, and perfect for a country kitchen, but the styling sits just as well in modern homes.
We are also able to supply this pretty rustic light with an etched crystal finish, which gives it an opaque appearance and helps to gently diffuse the light for a soft warm glow. Please contact us if you would like further information about this option. The price will be slightly different if you choose the etched crystal option.
The Chiocciola range features a selection of classic lights for homes including several wall, table and ceiling lights of the same design. If you scroll down to the bottom of this page you will find this very special family of products. A single click on any one of the images will send you to the relevant page on our site.
You will also see examples of both the finishes, and a further image showing parts of this charming lamp in far greater detail than we are able to show here. This piece may bear some tiny imperfection that will attest to its having been fashioned entirely by hand, thus increasing its value and uniqueness. It is based on a historical design and has been crafted using purely traditional techniques.
