What you see here are many pieces of piastra glass, formed by hand and looped over a nickel finish metal frame. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe design and style are firmly rooted in the 1970s, but it's made using a technique which dates back as far as the thirteenth century. It's a very labour intensive method, as the molten glass is formed into the required shape by hand, using iron tools, and then left to cool.
